Gresik, May 20, 2026 – Efforts to strengthen the quality of Islamic religious education continue to be carried out by Yayasan Kebangkitan Umat Islam (YKUI) of Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School through the implementation of an integrated pesantren curriculum across all central and branch institutions.
One concrete manifestation of this effort is the implementation of the YKUI-wide Computer-Based Joint Examination (UB-BK), which began on Wednesday–Thursday, May 20–21, 2026. This activity not only serves as a learning evaluation platform, but also as part of an endeavor to build a Muslim generation that understands Islamic knowledge based on the strong foundations of the Qur’an and As-Sunnah.

Ustadz Muhammad Amrullah, S.Pd.I., a representative from MI YKUI Maskumambang, stated that UB-BK serves as a means to measure the success of the pesantren curriculum that has been implemented simultaneously across all institutions under the YKUI umbrella.
“The pesantren curriculum refers to Islamic religious knowledge that is firmly based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, so that it can be implemented throughout all YKUI branch schools of Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School,” he explained on Wednesday (20/5/2026).
This year’s UB-BK was attended by a total of 109 participants at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level across YKUI, consisting of 52 male participants and 57 female participants. The participants came from six affiliated institutions, namely MI YKUI Maskumambang Boys, MI YKUI Maskumambang Girls, MI YKUI Boys Sambogunung, MI YKUI Girls Sambogunung, MI YKUI Babaksari, and MI YKUI Sekargadung.

Ustadz Amrullah also explained that the activity was conducted over two days, with examination subjects including Tauhid, Arabic Language, Nahwu, and Sharaf. On the first day, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the activity began with an opening ceremony at 07.00 WIB, followed by Tauhid and Arabic Language examinations. Meanwhile, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, participants took the Nahwu and Sharaf examinations.
To support the implementation of the computer-based examination, the committee provided four computer laboratories located within the Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School complex. The examination rooms were arranged systematically, namely Maskumambang Creative Center (MCC) 1 with 29 male participants, MCC 2 with 23 male participants, MCC 3 with 29 female participants, and MCC 4 with 28 female participants.

“What is interesting is that the participants’ seating positions were arranged randomly so that participants from different institutions could get to know one another and strengthen the ukhuwah among fellow YKUI members,” said Ustadz Amrullah. In addition, the examination supervisors consisted of senior teachers representing each institution to maintain order and ensure the quality of the examination process.
Through this UB-BK activity, YKUI Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School hopes that the pesantren curriculum that has been implemented will produce a generation that excels in Islamic knowledge while also being prepared to face the developments of the modern era.
“Participants who are declared to have passed will later receive an official pesantren diploma directly from Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School,” concluded Ustadz Amrullah.
