Gresik, May 31, 2026 – Munaqosyah is a Quranic memorization (tahfizhul qur’an) evaluation process conducted to measure and strengthen the quality of memorization achieved through a year of learning and memorizing.
In this spirit, MI YKUI Maskumambang once again held the Munaqosyah Tahfidz Al-Qur’an as part of the final examination series for sixth-grade students for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The munaqosyah took place over two days, namely on Sunday, May 31, 2026, for male students and Monday, June 1, 2026, for female students. The activity ran from 08:00 to 11:30 WIB, involving competent examiners tasked with assessing the quality of the students’ memorization.
The Vice Principal of Academic Affairs at MI YKUI Maskumambang, Ustadz Muhammad Amrullah, S.Pd.I., explained that this year’s munaqosyah utilized a surah-connection (sambung surat) system. In this system, the examiner recites a verse from the Quran, and the student is then required to continue the recitation to the end of the surah and proceed to the next surah according to its order in the mushaf (the written text of the Quran). This method not only tests the strength of memorizing verse by verse but also measures the students’ ability to master the overall sequence and order of the surahs.
“With this system, apart from memorizing the verses in each surah, the children must also memorize the order of the surahs. This is a crucial part of assessing the quality of memorization they have achieved during their studies at MI YKUI Maskumambang,” Ustadz Amrullah explained on Sunday (31/5).
Ustadz Amrullah also mentioned that the Munaqosyah Tahfidz serves as the final exam for sixth-grade students before the graduation results are announced, which, InsyaAllah (God willing), will take place on June 2, 2026. Following the graduation announcement, the series of events will continue with the graduation ceremony (acara pelepasan) for sixth-grade students, scheduled for June 13, 2026, for male students and June 14, 2026, for female students.
Meanwhile, the Principal of MA YKUI Maskumambang, Ustadz Musyrofin, M.Pd.I., also conveyed that the Munaqosyah Tahfidz is a noble effort to measure and strengthen the quality of the students’ Quranic memorization. According to him, this activity carries a much deeper meaning than just a standard academic examination.
“The Munaqosyah Tahfidz at MI YKUI Maskumambang is a noble endeavor to measure and strengthen the quality of the students’ Quranic memorization. More than just an exam, this activity serves as a means to instill a love for the Word of Allah (Kalamullah), train discipline and perseverance, as well as shape a generation with a Qur’anic character who possess noble morals and broad horizons.”
“Congratulations and success on the implementation of the Munaqosyah Tahfidz at MI YKUI Maskumambang. May all participants be granted smoothness, peace of mind, and blessings in undergoing every part of this activity,” Ustadz Musyrofin concluded.
Through this event, MI YKUI Maskumambang continues to reaffirm its commitment to building a generation that is not only academically excellent but also maintains a close bond with the Al-Qur’an.
