Gresik, May 18, 2026 – MTs YKUI Maskumambang officially began the Tahfidz Munaqosah for 9th grade students on Monday (18/5/2026). The activity is part of the final examination series and serves as a graduation requirement for students enrolled in the tahfidz program at the madrasah.
The munaqosah is scheduled to take place over three days, from May 18 to May 20, 2026, from 08:00 AM to 02:15 PM WIB. The activity is divided into two separate locations. Male students take the examination at the new boys’ dormitory of Maskumambang Islamic Boarding School, while female students carry out the munaqosah in the Foundation Meeting Room.
The Vice Principal of Academic Affairs of MTs-MA YKUI Maskumambang, Ustadz Mohammad Ibrahim, S.Pd., stated that the activity is a mandatory academic agenda for all 9th grade students.
“The tahfidz examination, which is part of the final examination series for 9th grade students, is conducted as a graduation requirement for the students,” said Ustadz Ibrahim.
He explained that each student is directly examined by appointed tahfidz teachers from the madrasah. Male students are examined by Ustadz Nur Hidayat, while female students are examined by Ustadzah Lia.
According to Ustadz Ibrahim, the implementation of the munaqosah on the first day ran smoothly and orderly. The students were considered capable of completing the entire examination process well. “Alhamdulillah, the Munaqosah activity on the first day went smoothly. From morning until evening, the students remained patient and participated until the end,” he said.
In his statement, before the implementation of the munaqosah, the madrasah also conducted a munaqosah tryout as a form of preparation target for the students’ memorization readiness. In addition, the students received intensive guidance from tahfidz teachers in each class to strengthen their memorization before facing the munaqosah.
In this activity, each student is required to memorize Juz 30 and Juz 1. These two juz become the main focus of assessment because they are considered an important foundation in achieving the Al-Qur’an tahfidz targets at MTs YKUI Maskumambang.
“Although the madrasah requires memorization of Juz 30 and Juz 1, there are several students who have memorized more than that. This achievement proves that the students’ enthusiasm and ability in memorizing the Al-Qur’an continue to develop well through intensive guidance and full support from the tahfidz teachers of MTs YKUI Maskumambang.”
“We hope that this munaqosah activity can encourage the students to continue maintaining and increasing their memorization of the Al-Qur’an, both during their study period at the madrasah and after graduation,” said Ustadz Ibrahim.
